Carvoeiro is a picturesque small and cosy fishing village and has grown into the main tourist area of the concelho of Lagoa. Carvoeiro has a lot of golden sandy beaches protected by cliffs, there are some dozen or so within a five mile distance either way. The main beach at Carvoeiro is clean and well kept. There are boat trips from the beach to view the caves nearby. The Portuguese are very hospitable people, eating out is an inexpensive gastronomy delight, vibrant night life and entertainment in the summer months, a golfer's paradise.
