The area is also steeped in history with an abundance of beautiful villages and towns to visit including the most westerly point in Europe - Cape St Vincent and the natural springs in the Monchique mountains. Another place that requires an obligatory visit is Monchique. Here you can go and visit the highest point of the Algarve, it’s a bit more fresh at this altitude the air is clean and crisp and it will be great to be a bit fresher during the hot, hot summer months. Great restaurants and traditional food are available roadside as you drive to Algarve's highest views.

Lisbon is only 2.5 hours away by car and Spain is easily one hours drive away on the A22 Motorway.

The drive from Carvoeiro to Lagoa is very fast, it takes you about 3 minutes. Lagoa is not a very big tourist city, it’s more like your average Portuguese town, not that big and not that small and the people are a good representation of the local Portuguese people. A town that you cannot miss is Portimão. Portimão is bigger than Lagoa, and that is right by the river Arade. Here you can observe the fishing markets, you can see the boats come back from fishing and unloading the fish that will be sold 15 minutes later. Portimão has lots of nice shopping streets, the more traditional shops that are slowly fading away because of the big shopping centers. You will be surprised by the great prices on high-quality clothing items that you can find here, the girls will have a lot of fun shopping around here.

Silves Castle and town – visit the historic town of Silves, approximately 10 kilometres inland from Carvoeiro, its castle is impressive and views for miles across the orchards and vineyards of the Algarve can be seen. There are quirky and trendy shops hidden in the tiny streets, an interesting trip.
